VI COMMANDO

Prt. Wallace Stephen “Steve” Cunningham, formerly of the Durham Light Infantry, served with No.4 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, June 1944.

Prt. Wallace Cunningham was wounded in action (WIA) on 10^th June 1944 when he was blown out his slit trench in the Orchard, Le Plein , Normandy .  He suffered extensive damage to his kidneys and spent a year recovering in hospital.
